The new Veritas’ COVID-19 Risk panel is a genetic test that determines your risk for developing medical complications associated with a COVID-19 infection. The test is based in whole exome sequencing (WES) to analyze 154 genes related to medical complications related to COVID-19 infections.

Who is it for?

COVID-19 Risk is indicated for adults over 18 years of age who want to know if they may have that should be considered in order to adapt their medical management in case of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

What is included in the test?

A complete report that provides your results of the interpretation of the 153 analyzed in the COVID-19 Risk study. The genes analyzed are related to different clinical conditions:

  • Conditions associated with an increased susceptibility to medications commonly used in managing COVID‐19 and respiratory failure.
  • Conditions that cause reversible metabolic or thrombotic crises that are often induced by severe illnesses such as COVID‐19.
  • Conditions that cause reversible cardiopulmonary complications that can be exacerbated during severe illnesses such as COVID‐19.
  • Immune system disorders related to the production of type I Interferon (IFN) that may increase the risk of severe pneumonia in case of COVID‐19.

1. Receive your genetic counseling consultation

Once you have purchased the test, we will contact you to set up a genetic counseling consultation to review your case and prescribe the test.

2. Receive your kit, give your sample and organize the shipment

Veritas will send you the saliva kit. You will then notify us when it is ready for shipment.

3. Analysis of your sample and provide the results

We sequence your DNA, extracting the relevant clinical information that will be provided in your report. The maximum period to complete the study and receive your report is 4 weeks.

4. Complete the post-test consultation to review your results

A medical professional will explain your results during a genetic counseling consultation. During the session, you will be provided a comprehensive explanation of your results and any recommended actions that can assist with your on-going healthcare management.
